Lake Henry Wastewater Treatment Facility- Wastewater Permit
We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for the City of Lake Henry's wastewater treatment facility.
This facility is designed to treat an average wet weather flow of 40,000 gallons per day and discharges treated wastewater to an unnamed creek near the facility.
This permit changes the chlorine limit to May through October from the previous period of January through December. This was changed to match the time during the year when chlorination is required at the facility. A new section related to oxidants was also added to the permit. This section includes reporting and compliance requirements for the chlorine limit.
Water quality permits - or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits - establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's surface and groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
